CLIMATE CHANGE & SUSTAINABILITY

Project Balvardhan

Project Balvardhan is a comprehensive nutrition and systems-strengthening initiative designed to improve the health, nutrition, and development outcomes of children aged 0–6 years in Dholpur, Rajasthan. Implemented across 1,033 Anganwadi Centres (Nand Ghars) covering 830 villages and 188 Gram Panchayats, the project adopts an integrated approach to address malnutrition through regular growth monitoring, targeted nutrition support, community-based rehabilitation, and strengthened service delivery systems.
The project combines frontline capacity-building, behaviour-change communication, and technology-enabled monitoring to improve the quality and reach of ICDS services. Key interventions include Positive Deviance (PD) Hearth for community-led rehabilitation of undernourished children, nutrition counselling for caregivers, and digital growth tracking through the Nand Ghar Sathi App. The initiative also promotes convergence with government schemes, Panchayat-led ownership, and community participation to ensure sustainability. By generating evidence, testing innovative solutions, and strengthening local systems,
Project Balvardhan aims to create a scalable model for improving child nutrition and development outcomes across Rajasthan and beyond.
